About Disability Rights Shirts
New to this? Read what the disability rights movement wants, in plain words.
These are not sympathy shirts. They are the arguments you make every day, printed so the room reads them before you speak: the ramp that is always coming, the waitlist that is not health care, the accommodation that is a right and not a favor. Wear them to the hearing, the clinic, Disability Pride Month in July, or the grocery store where someone parks in your spot.
Every design is printed to order on the Comfort Colors 1717: 6.1 oz ring-spun cotton, garment-dyed, relaxed unisex fit, S to 4XL in eight colors. Many designs also come as a Gildan Heavy Blend hoodie and crewneck sweatshirt (8 oz cotton and polyester, unisex S to 5XL, in Black, Sand, Sport Grey and White), every new design ships with both, and the product page links the three. The fabric is heavy but soft, with a smooth DTG print that does not scratch. They make a real gift for a disabled friend, a caregiver, a special education teacher, or an ADA coordinator who has heard every excuse.

Questions people ask
Are these shirts made by disabled people?
The designs are written from the disability rights perspective, matter-of-fact and never pitying, and reviewed against how disabled people talk about their own lives. Disabled people are our buyers, not our subject.
Which designs are best for Disability Pride Month?
"Disabled and Qualified," "The ADA Is Older Than Me," and "Access Is Not Optional" are good picks for July. Anything in this collection works, and the colors read well in a group photo.
Are these shirts comfortable for sensory sensitivity?
Many people find them so. The Comfort Colors 1717 is garment-dyed and soft from the first wash, the print is smooth to the touch, and there is no printed label at the neck, only a soft sewn one.
