Unisex with a relaxed cut, true to size, S to 4XL. Garment-dyed heavyweight tee.

Citizenship is not a mailing list. A database matched a name to a moved address, the registration got flagged, and a citizen who has lived in the same house for twenty years found out at the polling place. This shirt is for that citizen, and for everyone whose right to vote got treated like a bounced newsletter.

Wear it to the election board hearing, the voter registration drive, the county clerk's office with the proof of residence, and the family dinner where a relative says the rolls needed cleaning. It is a strong gift for a purged voter, a registration volunteer, a voting rights lawyer, and the neighbor who checks everyone's status in October.

The tee is a Comfort Colors 1717, garment-dyed in 6.1 oz ring-spun cotton, soft and evenly colored, with a heavier hand than a novelty tee and a message that outlasts the database. Direct-to-garment. It bonds with the cotton.

Unisex, relaxed, true to size. S through 4XL. Colors: Black, White, Bay, Blossom. Also Chambray, Graphite, Ivory, Banana. Also as a hoodie and a sweatshirt. It belongs to our voting and elections collection, alongside the other purge designs.

Designed and printed to order in the USA. Machine wash cold, inside out, with like colors. Tumble dry low. Do not bleach or iron the design.

Common questions

What does citizenship is not a mailing list mean? That a voter registration should not be dropped the way a marketing list drops a bounced address. Purges built on address databases do exactly that.

Would a voting rights group order these? Groups do. Every shirt is printed to order. Any mix of sizes, one order.

Which color for a registration drive? White and Banana read from the sidewalk. Black for the hearing.

How does the 1717 fit? True to size, relaxed body. Order your usual.

Wear it to: the polls, the canvass, the county board meeting, election night.

Fabric and fit

Comfort Colors 1717: 6.1 oz 100 percent ring-spun cotton, garment-dyed and soft-washed so it feels broken in from the first wear. Relaxed unisex fit, true to size, S to 4XL in eight colors. Double-needle stitching, no side seams, sewn-in label.

Measurements for every size are on the size and fit guide.

Printing and care

Printed to order in the USA, direct to garment: water-based ink goes into the fabric rather than sitting on top, so the print stays soft and does not crack or peel.

Machine wash cold, inside out. Tumble dry low or hang dry. Do not iron the print. More on the fabric and care page.

Shipping and returns

Every shirt is made when you order it and ships from the USA. Current production and delivery times, and how returns work, are on the shipping and returns page. Ordering for a group? See group and bulk orders.
