Unisex with a relaxed cut, true to size, S to 4XL. Garment-dyed heavyweight tee.

Adapt the world not the people. The stairs, the tiny type and the meeting with no captions were all built by somebody, which means they can be built differently, yet the fixing keeps getting aimed at the person instead of the door, and the access consultant in the tee keeps pointing at the door. Bodies are not the broken part. This tee puts the work where it belongs.

Wear it to the accessibility audit, the architecture school lecture, the design review, the disability studies seminar, and the family dinner where a relative suggests you just try harder. It is a strong gift for an access consultant, an architect, a disability studies student, and the friend who fixed the door.

The tee is a Comfort Colors 1717, garment-dyed in 6.1 oz ring-spun cotton, soft and evenly colored, with a heavier hand than a novelty tee and three lines that read across a design review. Direct-to-garment. It bonds with the cotton.

Unisex, relaxed, true to size. S through 4XL. Colors: Black, White, Bay, Blossom. Also Chambray, Graphite, Ivory, Banana. It is the social model on our disability rights page.

Designed and printed to order in the USA. Machine wash cold, inside out, with like colors. Tumble dry low. Do not bleach or iron the design.

Common questions

Is this the social model of disability? In six words. The stairs are the problem, not the legs.

Would an accessibility team order these? Teams do, for the audit. Every shirt is printed to order. Any mix of sizes, one order.

Which color do consultants pick? Black and Graphite. Ivory for the lecture.

How does the 1717 fit? True to size, relaxed body. Order your usual.

Wear it to: the hearing, the clinic, Disability Pride Month in July, the parking lot where someone took your spot.

Fabric and fit

Comfort Colors 1717: 6.1 oz 100 percent ring-spun cotton, garment-dyed and soft-washed so it feels broken in from the first wear. Relaxed unisex fit, true to size, S to 4XL in eight colors. Double-needle stitching, no side seams, sewn-in label.

Measurements for every size are on the size and fit guide.

Printing and care

Printed to order in the USA, direct to garment: water-based ink goes into the fabric rather than sitting on top, so the print stays soft and does not crack or peel.

Machine wash cold, inside out. Tumble dry low or hang dry. Do not iron the print. More on the fabric and care page.

Shipping and returns

Every shirt is made when you order it and ships from the USA. Current production and delivery times, and how returns work, are on the shipping and returns page. Ordering for a group? See group and bulk orders.
