Unisex with a relaxed cut, true to size, S to 4XL. Garment-dyed heavyweight tee.

No subminimum wage. There is a legal carve-out that lets an employer pay a disabled worker pennies an hour and call it training, and the worker in the tee was paid under it for six years before the state ended it. The same work and the same hours get the same pay, with no discount rate for anyone. This tee asks for the number.

Wear it to the state house hearing on the 14(c) bill, the disability employment conference, the union hall, the sheltered workshop transition meeting, and the family dinner where a relative says at least they have a job. It is a strong gift for a disabled worker, a self-advocate, an employment lawyer, and the friend who did the math on the pay stub.

The tee is a Comfort Colors 1717, garment-dyed in 6.1 oz ring-spun cotton, soft and evenly colored, with a heavier hand than a novelty tee and three words that read across a state house hearing. Direct-to-garment. It bonds with the cotton.

Unisex, relaxed, true to size. S through 4XL. Colors: Black, White, Bay, Blossom. Also Chambray, Graphite, Ivory, Banana. It is the pay-stub entry on our disability rights page.

Designed and printed to order in the USA. Machine wash cold, inside out, with like colors. Tumble dry low. Do not bleach or iron the design.

Common questions

What is 14(c)? The 1938 carve-out that allows pay below minimum wage for disabled workers. Several states have ended it; the tee wants the rest.

Would a self-advocacy group order these for the hearing? Groups do. Every shirt is printed to order. Any mix of sizes, one order.

Which color do workers pick? Black and Bay. White for the hearing.

How does the 1717 fit? True to size, relaxed body. Order your usual.

Wear it to: the hearing, the clinic, Disability Pride Month in July, the parking lot where someone took your spot.

Fabric and fit

Comfort Colors 1717: 6.1 oz 100 percent ring-spun cotton, garment-dyed and soft-washed so it feels broken in from the first wear. Relaxed unisex fit, true to size, S to 4XL in eight colors. Double-needle stitching, no side seams, sewn-in label.

Measurements for every size are on the size and fit guide.

Printing and care

Printed to order in the USA, direct to garment: water-based ink goes into the fabric rather than sitting on top, so the print stays soft and does not crack or peel.

Machine wash cold, inside out. Tumble dry low or hang dry. Do not iron the print. More on the fabric and care page.

Shipping and returns

Every shirt is made when you order it and ships from the USA. Current production and delivery times, and how returns work, are on the shipping and returns page. Ordering for a group? See group and bulk orders.
