Unisex with a relaxed cut, true to size, S to 4XL. Garment-dyed heavyweight tee.

Stop restraining kids. A child who is overwhelmed needs an adult who knows what to do with an overwhelmed child, not a hold, a locked room and an incident report filed the same afternoon, and the parent in the tee read that report about her own kid. It happens most to disabled kids in the buildings meant to be safe. This tee asks for the practice to end.

Wear it to the school board meeting, the state house hearing on the restraint bill, the IEP meeting, the disability rights rally, and the family dinner where a relative says the school knows best. It is a strong gift for a parent, a special education advocate, a school psychologist, and the friend who read the report.

The tee is a Comfort Colors 1717, garment-dyed in 6.1 oz ring-spun cotton, soft and evenly colored, with a heavier hand than a novelty tee and three lines that read across a hearing room on the restraint bill. Direct-to-garment. It bonds with the cotton.

Unisex, relaxed, true to size. S through 4XL. Colors: Black, White, Bay, Blossom. Also Chambray, Graphite, Ivory, Banana. It belongs with the school designs on our disability rights page.

Designed and printed to order in the USA. Machine wash cold, inside out, with like colors. Tumble dry low. Do not bleach or iron the design.

Common questions

Does this happen often? Tens of thousands of times a year in American schools, mostly to disabled kids. The report the parent read was one of them.

Would a parent group order these? Groups do, for the hearing. Every shirt is printed to order. Any mix of sizes, one order.

Which color do parents pick? Black by a wide margin. White for the rally.

How does the 1717 fit? True to size, relaxed body. Order your usual.

Wear it to: the hearing, the clinic, Disability Pride Month in July, the parking lot where someone took your spot.

Fabric and fit

Comfort Colors 1717: 6.1 oz 100 percent ring-spun cotton, garment-dyed and soft-washed so it feels broken in from the first wear. Relaxed unisex fit, true to size, S to 4XL in eight colors. Double-needle stitching, no side seams, sewn-in label.

Measurements for every size are on the size and fit guide.

Printing and care

Printed to order in the USA, direct to garment: water-based ink goes into the fabric rather than sitting on top, so the print stays soft and does not crack or peel.

Machine wash cold, inside out. Tumble dry low or hang dry. Do not iron the print. More on the fabric and care page.

Shipping and returns

Every shirt is made when you order it and ships from the USA. Current production and delivery times, and how returns work, are on the shipping and returns page. Ordering for a group? See group and bulk orders.
